Pictures from Klamath Falls, January 27, 2002

While I was visiting Klamath Falls, I took at look at the new security measures at the head gates.  The government still can't get its story straight.  The Bureau put up new "no trespassing signs", but left up the old ones that show that KID (Klamath Irrigation District) properly has control over the property:

Here you can see the new black steel fence, with one of the security cameras attached to the telephone pole at left:

Here's the other side of the head gates:

My hosts took me to visit the new power plant operated by the City of Klamath Falls:

This power plant seems to suck an awful lot of water out of the river and blow it into the air as steam:

Unlike the water used by farmers, most of which is recycled in the wildlife refuges and elsewhere, this water just blows away.  No one seems to know just how much water the plant is sucking up, or where it comes from.

And now the City is proposing to build another plant like this one, and again no one seems to know where the water will come from.  The Klamath Basin environmentalists are such hypocrites!  They only attack water use by the weak, not the strong.
